Why is my Meesho payout lower than expected?

A Meesho payout is usually lower than expected because of customer returns, RTOs, deductions such as shipping or ads, claims that have not been paid yet, TCS and TDS held back for tax, or orders that will be paid in a later cycle. Most of the gap is normal and shows up line by line in your Meesho Payment Report. The part worth chasing is a delivered order that was never paid, or a deduction you cannot explain.

Is my Meesho payout wrong, or just lower?

Most of the time it is just lower. Meesho does not pay you one order at a time: one payment into your bank covers many orders, after everything that applies to them has been taken out. So the amount in your bank is almost never the total of your order values.

Before you raise anything with Meesho, go through the reasons below one by one. Each of them is visible in your Payment Report, on the lines for each order.

Do customer returns reduce my Meesho payment?

Yes, in two ways. When a buyer returns an order after delivery, the sale is reversed, so the money for that order is taken back. On top of that, a return shipping charge is deducted for bringing the product back to you.

Returns often happen weeks after the order. If the order was paid in one cycle and returned in a later one, the later payment is lower because the earlier money is being taken back.

Does Meesho charge me for RTO orders?

Meesho’s supplier pricing page says it does not charge a return shipping fee for RTOs. An RTO (return to origin) is an order that was never delivered: the buyer refused it, could not be reached, or gave a wrong address, and the courier brought it back.

So an RTO does not usually cost you a Meesho charge, but it still lowers your payout compared with what you expected: you get no money for that order, because it was never sold. Your own packing is lost too.

What else does Meesho deduct from my payment?

  • Commission: Meesho’s supplier pricing page says it charges 0% commission across all categories, with no collection fee and no cancellation penalty.
  • Shipping: the shipping charge for each order is deducted, and Meesho shows it with GST included.
  • Ads: if you run Meesho ads, their cost can be taken from your payment, so check your Payment Report for ad deductions.
  • Return shipping on customer returns, as above.
  • Any other penalty or charge Meesho has applied to your account also appears as a deduction in the Payment Report.

Why are TCS and TDS deducted from my Meesho payment?

Because the law asks marketplaces to hold back a small part of each sale for tax. GST TCS is 0.5% and income-tax TDS is 0.1%, both on the taxable value of the sale (the price without GST).

Neither one is lost. TCS is credited to your GST electronic cash ledger, and TDS can be claimed against your income tax. They make this payout lower, but they are money held back, not a cost.

What about claims for damaged or wrong returns?

If a return came back damaged, used or not your product, you can raise a claim with Meesho. Until the claim is approved and paid, your payout carries the full loss of that return. When a claim is paid, the credit shows on that order’s payment line, so you can see which claims were paid and which are still open.

Why are some delivered orders not in this payment at all?

Orders are often paid in a later cycle. An order delivered near the end of a month, for example, is usually paid in the next month’s Payment Report, not this one. That is timing, not a loss.

This is why you need next month’s Payment Report as well as this month’s when you check a month. Without it, orders that were simply paid later look unpaid.

How do I check my Meesho payout order by order?

  1. Download the Order Report (Supplier Panel → Orders → Download Order Report) for the month you are checking.
  2. Download the Payment Report (Supplier Panel → Payments → Download Payment Report) for that month and for the next month.
  3. For each delivered order, find every payment line for its Sub Order ID in both Payment Reports. One order can have several lines: the payment, a return, a claim.
  4. Set aside the orders that were returned, came back as RTO, or are simply waiting for a later cycle.
  5. Raise only the real gaps: a delivered order with no payment in either report, or a deduction you cannot explain.
